In this third video of my exercise series, I detail one of the more important questions to those who exercise on the Atkins Diet — how to stay hydrated while exercise. The easy answer is drink water, but on a hot day while sweating that is not always the best answer as one loses key minerals, like Sodium, Potassium, and other electrolytes. Non-low carbers have it easy as they can turn to any readily available Electrolyte replacement drink, like Gatorade or Powerade. Even those that recognize the need for protein like Accelerade, combine with 4x as much carbohydrates than protein.
Here is the home-made low carb Gatorade recipe:
Artificial Sweetener equivalent of 10 tbs. sugar (5/8 cups or 120 grams)
3/4ths tsp Morton Lite salt (4.2 grams)
1 package of unsweetened Koolade mix for flavor
2 liters Water

Just wondering what it is about diet programs that actually give you food like nutrisystem. Do they put some weird chemical that makes fat burn faster or something?
If it is just low calories, could I just be on a vegan diet + exersize and lose the same amount of weight and not wasting as much money?
The thing with nurtisystem is that it is convenient and teaches portion size! My FIL has lost at least 60 pounds with it, and he fully admits that he's too lazy to do the correct portion sizes himself. There are no chemicals or pills.
I think Jenny Craig and Weight Watchers are about portion control too. So many people DONT know what a true serving size is that these *gimmicks* teach people the correct way to eat. Plus with the prepackaged food it's easier.
You could go vegan, if it's what suits you, but you can still incorporate fat free dairy, lean chicken and turkey (cow too), and tons of fruits and veggies, and lose all the weight you need, as long as you dont overeat
Exercise is an equal component that not only helps you lose weight, but helps keep it off. Plus, not to be glib, it's really good for you too!
Red wine is lower, white and pink usually have more sugar. No wine is LOW carb, red is just usually lower. Pure alcohol like gin and vodka are zero carbs if I recall. But drinking can reverse your ketosis.
Exactly what is the zone diet? Is it new? Any info would be greatly appreciated!!
the Zone Diet is another name for the isocaloric diet. it's when you consume equal amounts of protein, carbohydrates and fats. so if you were consuming 2,000 cals daily it would be 33% protein, 33% carbohydrates and 33% fats.
protein and carbs are 4 cals per gram
fat is 9 cals per gram
660 cals = 165 grams of protein daily
660 cals = 165 grams of carbs daily
660 cals = 73 grams of fat daily
* when the right foods are selected this type of diet can be very effective for reducing body fat.

Thinking about going on the South Beach diet and was wondering how well it worked. I really dont want to go on weight watchers and worry about adding up points and stuff since I dont have that much time,even though its summer. Thanx
Oh, and soccers starting up in a week or so, so I will be doing a lot of running and exercises {well, up into october when it ends}.
It works well, but, its really not a healthy long-term diet.
Its good to just lose more weight for a week or two, but use it longer than that and it will cause malnourishment.
Its better to stay active (like when soccer starts) and just eat smarter.
