    Thanks. I know someone who went raw vegan. She lost a lot of weight, but she did NOT look healthy in her “after” photo. Dieting is not just about losing weight, but regaining health and fitness.

    Nuts are not a complete protein, though they are getting so many grains that they are probably getting the minimum 50g a day to prevent deficiency.

    I don’t do well on a high-carb diet. I get hungry and my blood sugar is all over the place. My body type also stores carbs as body fat way too easily.

    wish I could give you a five star but great vid : ) But ignore them, and loads of people have said so that vegans look washed out…..I am guessing through lack of protein its not easy eatting so many nuts for protein, plus here in Florida I see so many fat vegans….all those carbs and pasta is not cutting it! But I use to be 300 pounds….I went vegan and went to 350 pounds but been on atkins for a year and am now 180!! Keep up the awesome work and never look back!

    To Cris and all other evangelical vegans out there.

    1) I’m not pushing Atkins on you; please don’t push your diet on me. I am telling my story. You are free to tell your own on your channel. Please do so.

    2) I’m into weight training. I do not know of any vegans who can say that. I need extra protein to build muscle.

    3) A high-carb vegan diet gives me less energy. I am carb-sensitive and have to follow a low-carb diet for my health.

    Dr. Bernstein is great. I’ve hung out on his official forum from time to time. I am prone to diabetes, so I have to low-carb. I’ve read a few of Mendosa’s articles. His article on Dreamfield’s pasta was one of the reasons I did a video about it.

    Good to see he’s recommending Bernstein. Low-carb is the best way for diabetics to control their blood sugar without the need for drugs. :)

    the answer is much simpler than this whole complicated calorie counting nonsense. Siimply, avoid all processed foods, eat only healthy fats i.e. eggs, real (grass-fed butter), no margarine, NO SUGAR! no SODA!, no hydrogenated oils, no vegetable shortening , no pastry, no deep fried foods, lots of veggies, dairy from grass-fed animals,and low(complex) carbs only, NO ALCOHOL( except an occasional glass of red wine). One teaspoon of honey (organic) every other day.

    DONE!

    You will definitely lose weight on the Atkins diet. Be sure to drink lots of water and take your supplemental vitamins.:) Not having Pasta & rice is the only bad part about the Atkins diet. I remember when Atkins was real popular about 5 years ago; there were all these Atkins products in supermarkets. Now there aren’t as many. Your “Nutrikins” diet sounds like the ‘South Beach Diet.’ And yes, Charles Shaw wine is very smooth & affordable. I’d like to exchange notes w/ you sometime. Later.

    Bravo on having Taubes’ book. I’m about 2/3 of the way through it. The book has forced me to re-think some of my beliefs. That makes for slow reading.

    I call what I am currently doing “Nutrikins.” I’m taking the best of NutriSystem low-fat and Atkins low-carb and combining them.

    Fell off? Hardly. I just learned that - FOR ME - fat doesn’t fill me up, so it makes the most sense for me to cut back on fat. I am still counting my carbs and try to keep them down. I do feel better at a slightly higher level - when my carbs are around 120 net grams a day I have energy to run instead of just walk and I enjoy running. But I am NEVER going back to the number of carbs I used to eat.

    I have Taubes’ book.
