Has anyone heard any report that celiac disease could make?
someone shed a lot of hair on a daily basis until the disease is under control?

hmmm.that’s a good question,i have just discovered i am gluten intolerant a few months ago and feel my hair is falling out more than usual,it’s very possible i would think since the gluten is not allowing our bodies to consume all the nutrients,i keep “accidentally” consuming gluten,it’s pretty much trial and error and reading all labels but i would also suggest a daily multivitamin, it didn’t occur to me until i read your question

Celiac’s in an auto-immune disease and with any auto-immune diease there is a symptom of hair loss. I don’t have it, but I do have another auto-immune disease and I honestly should be bald with the amount of hair that falls out everyday, but my doctor told me not to worry about it and we have enough hair that it is normal, unless you see balding spots. AND my mother has celiacs, and she has thin hair because of it, but nothing serious. I wouldn’t worry, but just know it might always be like that.

Yes. Mine did. For years before and it continued for almost a year and a half after I went on the gf diet. It is because of the auto-immune reaction and vitamin deficiency, and probably a little thyroid function issue thrown in as well. I found taking a multivitamin and then extra niacin helped a LOT.

Dr Green in his book describes alopecia areata as an autoimmune condition in which patchy areas of total hair loss occur. It is considered to be an autoimmune process and there are some anecdotal reports of a gluten free diet initiating hair growth and causing remission. Hope this helps!
