Whats the secret of all those commercial diets (nutrisystem)? Do they just give low calories or use chemicals?

Yazar: admin August 31, 2008

Just wondering what it is about diet programs that actually give you food like nutrisystem. Do they put some weird chemical that makes fat burn faster or something?

If it is just low calories, could I just be on a vegan diet + exersize and lose the same amount of weight and not wasting as much money?

The thing with nurtisystem is that it is convenient and teaches portion size! My FIL has lost at least 60 pounds with it, and he fully admits that he's too lazy to do the correct portion sizes himself. There are no chemicals or pills.

I think Jenny Craig and Weight Watchers are about portion control too. So many people DONT know what a true serving size is that these *gimmicks* teach people the correct way to eat. Plus with the prepackaged food it's easier.

You could go vegan, if it's what suits you, but you can still incorporate fat free dairy, lean chicken and turkey (cow too), and tons of fruits and veggies, and lose all the weight you need, as long as you dont overeat

Exercise is an equal component that not only helps you lose weight, but helps keep it off. Plus, not to be glib, it's really good for you too!

trick, pills and gimmicks are a waste of money and effort. Theres no substitute for the real deal (exercise, healthy eating and commitment)

I recently wrote a blog http://myfitmate.blogspot.com/ about spot reduction and what others claim but what the actual truth is. Have a read you'll find it interesting.

As far as things they put in them it can vary but you'll find a lot of them have a huge amount of caffeine in them which is not good as well as a natural ephedrine type suppement which can be very harmful depending on the individual.

well, first of all, nutrisystem's food is horrible. it tastes like cardboard, no joke.

generally, they give you food that is a little bit lower in calories and fat than the food you can get yourself at the grocery store for less money, but in smaller portions. it's all about portion control.

as a nutritionist, and a vegan myself, i recommend a vegan diet and exercise. since you are cutting out meat and dairy, i would talk to your doctor or a nutritionist in your area to find out what you should eat, and what you need to make sure you have.

you need to take calcium supplements, as well as B12 supplements, since you can only get B12 from animal products.

i went vegan 2006 in November and i've lost 70 pounds as well as significantly lowering my cholesterol. i also can run faster, walk faster, and think better. you will definitely lose more weight on a vegan diet and exercise 3 times a week for 30 minutes, as well as becoming much more healthy!

    good luck!
