Weight loss, dieting, looking good, lots of energy?
Let me dish out the basics -
    Age: 16
    Weight: 165

Okay so, for the last 5 weeks, I’ve been excercising a lot, 4 hours max. at the gym. Strength & weight training - 30 mins. Cardio - 30 mins. Swimming - an hour. I started seeing results so far, I haven’t been weighing myself, and I don’t want to just yet. (Stupid, I know.)

Anyway - When it comes down to eating the proper foods, this is where I’m a bit confused. I’m aware that I have to eat foods low in fat, or non fat. Complex carbs & enough protein in order to build muscle and burn more fat/calories. Due to my weight, I’m suppose to consume atleast 1,200 to 1,800 calories per day in order for my body to function properly and my metabolism to increase.

But this is where I’m stuck … I don’t know what to eat, really. At times I get real confused, I don’t know how much carbs I’m suppose to consume, and even though my goal is to burn fat, I’m still suppose to eat it at some point, from what I’ve been told. My friend told me

first of all if you work out for 4 hours and eat less than 1500 calories you will probably die before june. eat around 2500. as much criticism as it gets you should follow the food triangle thing or whatever its called now. it is a good resource for figuring out a rough idea of what you need and how to get it

You should buy a book on nutrition or see a nutritionist. Nutrition can be kind of complicated. There is SO much to learn. Good job on your exercising. Make sure to continue to lift weights to increase your metabolism. Dont Overworkout either. Your body needs a break. And dont weigh yourself until your ready. An alternative to weighing yourself? Take photos of yourself. Thats what I do because I hate the scale. Also, you will go through ups and downs through your weight loss process. Dont quit. If you have a bad day, just start back up the next day. Good luck and keep up the good work! (Also, dont become obsessed about counting calories. I dont count calories. I just eat foods that I know are healthy.)

Some nutrition tips off the top of my head:
Dont eat anything with MSG in it (monosodium glutamate), which is in all kinds of foods at grocery stores and in all foods in fast food restaurants. Read nutrition labels when shopping.

Shop on the peremeter of a grocery store.

    Eat natural, organic foods.

Eat a veggie/fruit with every meal.

Eat frequently throughout the day so you dont binge. (I eat healthy snacks like low fat cheese and veggies/fruits between meals)

Read all nutrition labels and you are suppossed to purchase foods that have the least amount of ingredients.

    Dont get any processed foods.

Drink lots of water (8-10 glasses a day) You should only be drinking water (no caffeine or pop, juice, etc.)

    Limit sugar.

Purchase a daily multivitamin from a health foods store.

Get omega 3’s each week by eating salmon, tuna, peanut butter, flaxseed.

Okay, thats all I have for now. Email me if you have any more questions. Take care!
