    I may not know Science but I know what worked for me. I cut my portions at meals and spread them out over the course of the day to 5-6 meals a day from 2 and wound up loosing 72 pounds in 9 months and was consuming more food daily then before. Just by making smarter choices with smaller more frequent meals. Want Science? read the University of Minnesota presses, Biology of Starvation.

    The average Joe? Sure, why not? It’s still calories in v/s calories out. One cannot lose fat in a caloric surplus, one cannot gain muscle (aside from brief newbie gains) in a caloric deficit. I’m not saying eating 5-6 times isn’t optimal for some, just that there is no scientific studies to back it up as a metabolism booster.

    No Rico, there is no science that proves it provides a boost. Mind you, I eat 5-6 meals a day and thrive on it. I’m not saying it isn’t effective, I’m just saying that there is no discernible difference between 3 and 6 meals if adequate amounts of macros are consumed. Bodybuilders do it because you guys need massive amounts of protein, but John Q Citizen won’t have trouble achieving optimal health on 3 meals a day.     There isn’t a shred of science backing up the claim that multiple meals (5-6 every 3 hours) doesn’t anything to increase metabolism. This is a widely circulated myth. I’m not saying that that eating 2 meals a day is optimal, and there are advantages to eating 5-6 meals as far as macronutrient ratios, but there’s no science to back it up.

    I appreciate what you’re doing, ’cause it’s smart to share your exp. with others so they don’t commit the same mistakes as you, espec. in the US. By the way I haven’t had anything else than a cold since kindergarten, and I quit soccer yrs ago. Anyways I’ll soon be on the workout again for sure, after having watched this. U also say that your population is one of the most obese globally, and I agree, but if you go to Europe, you’ll soon see that a lot of countries eat “americanized”.

But I’m combining ALL of the facets of becoming healthy, not just one or two. It’s why I’m optimally healthy and am never sick. My chronological age is 53 but my body age is more like 33.
