“Artificial” Bearded Dragon Food? Does it work well? Is it good for them? PLEASE HELP!?
What about any of these foods for a baby BD?:

    the "Zoomed" Canned BD Food

    JurassiDiet Easi-Silkworm

    Exo Terra BD Foods

    Rep Cal Bearded Dragon Food

    Nature Zone Bearded Dragon Bites

    Adult Bearded Dragon Monster Diet

**The reason I am asking is that I would like to change my BD food to something artificial because he does not like any veggies

Would i have to add calcium to any or all of these

They are good for them but i wouldn’t base there diet completely on them, it may be hard to get them to eat the pellets anyway because they may not recognize it as food.

None of them alone is balanced or recommended. A bearded dragon needs a variety of live insects (you dust the insects with calcium and vitamins–not the salad). They also need a fresh daily salad made up of at least 4-5 food items. Baby and juvenile beardies typically are not big salad eaters. By the time they are 9-12 months old, most are eating them pretty well. Just keep offering. Try putting the insects on the salad to entice him as well. Here are some helpful feeding sites:

well in my opinion you really shouldn’t base your beardies diet off of anything artificial. you can use it as a salad topper but some like it and some don’t. its not uncommon for young beardies to prefer live foods, but be consistent, and offer a salad every day. eventually after they hit their teens they tend to lean more towards veggies. if you have any questions about veggies to feed, i suggest taking a look at this sight:

i use it like a bible for my beardie.

I use Nature zone bites for Bearded Dragons and my BD is 18 Inches head to tail, he cleans his plate lickety split. I think it’s just him though., because the 2 others I have which R 16 inches have’nt gone for it yet. Try buying moist and buy @ Petco if they don’t eat it U can return the product even if it’s opened as long as it’s 3quarters full. Then try Dry pellets.

I wouldn’t reccomend the artificial foods, they tend to not like them. If your beardie is young he will not eat many veggies, just keep trying, and dust their veggies as well as crickets. you need to make sure they have lots and lots of calcium. Try mixing up his insects, try superworms (if he is at least 11 inches STL (snout to tail), silkworms, pheonixworms, waxworms, butterworms, roaches, grasshoppers, etc. Each worm has different nutrients for them, so if you mix it up they won’t get bored with their diet. good luck
