I’m serious about losing weight, I need help with how to start?
I’m 26… 5′8 and went to the Dr yesterday had a physical and found out I am 85kg (187lbs) i’m feeling miserable about this!!!
I recently put on weight due to stress and I find myself just eating more and more everyday… I got up this morning and thought ok i’m serious about this I am starting today… I took my kids to daycare and came home and then couldn’t resist eating… it’s only midday and i’ve eaten chicken schnitzel, 2 chocolate cookies, handful of crackers, ham and cheese toasted pita bread, 3 glasses of diet coke and I feel like i’m starving!!! I’m in the middle of moving and I should be packing but I’ve flopped in front of the TV not wanting to do anything. All I can think of is food and how hungry I am… I need to know how I can stop this and start on my way to lose weight… i’m serious about this but I just don’t know where to start?? I would appreciate any tips on how to start and what should I do about feeling so hungry??
Sounds like you’re still on the roller coaster. This really sounds like emotional eating because of the stress levels you’re feeling. You’re having a hard time starting a healthy lifestyle because you have too much on your plate right now (no pun intended). Moving is a big headache at the best of times so don’t beat yourself up over all this. This doesn’t seem like a good time to start another major project. But this worked for me…after you read this In a quiet moment. I want you to make a list of the food you will eat tomorrow. Just for tomorrow not the whole week. Think about the healthiest breakfast, a healthy lunch and a healthy dinner of foods you like. And 3 pieces of your favorite fruits as snacks. Now, prepare what you can ahead of tomorrow and stick to your list. This is what you will eat just for today..one day, that’s it. Then, go back to eating whatever you want the next day but keep the list on the fridge door. Eat one meal or more from that list every day. You’ll find that having healthy food ready to eat and set out for you will help you start thinking about your diet more and more over the next few weeks. Just try it..you have nothing to lose but a few extra pounds. We’ll talk about 30 minutes of positive exercise (walking) everyday another time (hint hint). I hope this will give you some ideas… I wish you good luck. Be good and patient with yourself remember, this is not a race. Eventually you’ll get down to 1200 calories a day and 30 mins exercise and be dropping pounds like crazy.

Try the cabbage soup diet for four weeks… And make sure that non-cabbage soup items are not in the house… I’m sure your family will not object to eating bananas, mushrooms, lettuce, tomatos, celery sticks, vegatables, fruits, milk, beef, and onions in the house? [eating cabbage soup does not mean eating ONLY Cabbage soup... it's the name of the diet] they have about 8 basic variations of it on the net… I tried it for 3 days and lost 5 pounds.

First of all, you have to work on loving your self and stop feeling mesirable about your find.
Second, avoid snacking, avoid soda, avoid late evening snacks and avoid eating out with friends. (Make sure that if you eat out, you will have to just eat 1/4 of the food in your plate - then have the rest to go. And eat slowly and chew your food very well) If you can eliminate all these (snacks) in a few days, then you can eliminate these in few weeks and then make it your habit not to do the second.
Work on that -
Third, Start eating moderately. Mix with walking, if you have no health problem, there’s no problem in walking fast in the park every day for 2 hours.
If you can do the third, and you’re loving it, make it…..
A habit to throw away left overs.
If you eat a lot, pay an hour of exercise for what you ate.
For sure, you will loose a lot with this program. Your calorie count will go down, your cholesterol will go down and you will feel very very good with yourself.

diet drinks are not the best intake for fluid consuption. use H2O instead, neither are regular ones! i’m 41 6′2" and 180lbs, just quit smoking this year, cold turkey after a 2 pack a day habit for 15 years, and i’m afraid of balloning up. hasn’t happened in the past 4 months and hoping it won’t. don’t have cable at home, and besides i love to be outside doing anything and/or absolutley nothing, listen to the radio alot. but no t.v. to flop in front of. hope this helps you in some kind of way ’cause will power is the strongest thing there is and you have complete control of it, without anyones help or paid intervention.

it sounds to me like you have more emotional then diet problem, that’s why you feel so hungry - I’m guessing you are not happy with your current lifestyle and food is the only thing you really enjoy. The other thing what makes you constant hungry is eating fatty food - you need to switch to vegetables and fruits for one day and next day your taste will adjust to healthy food and portion. The best thing for you it’s to find nutritionist in your area and ask about the problem. Don’t try to do it by yourself you need support and understanding. Good luck!
